The Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts, was humbly founded in 1711 in a single room in the city hall. In 1876, it moved to its current location in a former convent and orphanage in the Rue du Midi, rehabilitated by the architect Pierre-Victor Jamaer.

An established academy with an impressive history of famous students such as, Vincent van Gogh, René Magritte and Victor Rousseau, the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts carries on the long standing tradition of excellence in arts education. Programs are offered for Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in the fields of design, art and media and also offers doctoral studies
